Kindergarten News...
Image result for letter people mr. n
We met Mr. N this week. He has a noisy nose. He loves to look at all sorts of noses. He also loves to listen to noises! Crash! Bang! Squeak!

We used the newspaper! We had a contest to see who could find the most Ns, the largest Nn, the smallest Nn, the most colorful Nns, etc.,....
We all received an award....WE GOT TO GO TO THE PRIZE BOX!!
It was so much fun!!

We read, The Nose Book, by Al Perkins and Arthur’s Nose by Marc Brown.
Then we made our own, Crazy Nose Book!

We read a funny story called N-O Spells NO!
Then we journaled about the “no-nos” (rules) at home and school.
We discussed why those rules are necessary!

We read books using our WITCH FINGERS!! Hehehe!!

Since Mr. N is here...we also talked about NUMBERS! The students brainstormed the MANY places we use numbers….clocks, calendars, scales, thermometers, phones, addresses, etc...
We worked with numbers on the promethean board and practiced
printing numbers too!

We learned about number lines and how they help us!

We learned about Thanksgiving! We read about the first Thanksgiving
and read about being THANKFUL! Then we each made a cornucopia and shared one thing we are thankful for!

We learned about the nickel!
We danced to a song about counting by fives!

We used our pretend laptops!
We are learning a lot about where the letters are on the keyboard!

Please, please, please keep your child home if he/she is not feeling well! We really don’t want illnesses to start spreading around the classrooms.
School policy states that your child needs to be fever and vomit free for 24 hours or have 24 hours of antibiotics before returning to school.
Thanks a bunch!

Looking ahead to next week...we are going to have a PLANNED SHARING time. On Thursday, November 10th would like the kindergartners to bring in two objects that rhyme! Such as a sock and a rock...or a car and a jar!
Have fun with this...BE CREATIVE...surprise us!

We have met NINE letter people so far!!
Aa, Bb, Cc, Ii, Mm, Nn, Pp, Ss, Tt
The boys and girls are doing great on the letter and sounds!!
Thank you, parents, for encouraging
your child and helping them practice at home!!
Way to go!!

Before the Halloween party, Mrs. Koenen read, Big Pumpkin to us!
We LOVED all of her SPOOKY voices!

A BIG thank you to the Halloween Party Committee!
Here are some pics…

First we sorted our costumes!
