KINDERGARTEN NEWS!
3-2-17
We met Mr. X. this week! He is a great guy! He is definitely different from the other letter people...he walks on his hands! He makes the letter “X” with his whole body! He says he is different because he USUALLY comes at the end of words!
There is always an X on a treasure map!
We read two PIRATE books called Shiver Me Letters! A Pirate ABC by June Sobel and Twenty-six Pirates by Dave Horowitz. Then we talked about treasure maps and we created one of our own. We even crinkled it up and ripped the edges a little so they looked real old! Haha! R-r-r-r-r!
We played a traditional game that really uses Xs.
TIC-TAC-TOE! The boys and girls are getting better and
better at strategizing!
We read a book about X-rays!
Then we got to SEE x-rays from
Mrs. Koenen and Mrs. Cooley.
In Math, we continue to work on addition! Mrs. Koenen showed the boys and girls a Dice Game that helps them work on number sentences!
March did come in like a LION! We hope it goes out like a lamb!
We had a Weekly Reader about that! We discussed...
"What kind of weather is like a lion...what weather is like a lamb?
We learned more facts about water!
We learned that water has a "skin." It holds itself together!
We examined drops of water (with blue food coloring) on a piece of
wax paper and we could really SEE IT!!
Ask your kindergartner about it! They were fascinated!
Even if it gets smushed together...water STIL "pulls itself together!"
_________ _ __________ _ _______________ _ __________
We also learned that water comes in three states.
When water is frozen it is a solid.
When it melts it becomes a liquid.
When it evaporates it becomes a gas.
We did an art project that showed ALL of those things!
We put different colored SNOW onto a piece of paper...checked on it as it melted into the paper...then waited for it to evaporate! The creations were BEAUTIFUL!
For RAMM this week...we honored Dr. Suess!
His birthday was this week.
We dressed in colorful stripes, polka-dots, zig-zags, etc.
Keep reading for RAMM!
We are entering our last week! Next Wednesday,
Mar. 8th, is our last day to turn in slips!
It is also PAJAMA DAY....wear your pjs to school for a day full of snuggly reading fun!
That day is also a 2 1/2 hour early out!
More fun pictures from our week!
Have a fantastic weekend!
